Gus Hansen poker player profile

Gus Hansen is one of the world’s best poker players known as “the Great Dane”. In 2004 Hansen became one of the first inductees into the World Poker Tour Walk of Fame alongside Doyle Brunson. Hansen is famed for his loose aggressive style of play which has made him a hit in millions of living rooms across the world during televised events. This style of poker play makes him virtually impossible to read, and opponents fear he could hold any two cards.

Hansen’s career poker winnings currently stand at $5 million, largely due to 4 WPT victories and a first place finish in the 2007 Aussie Millions No-limit hold’em poker event – which Hansen won with a pair of Aces in heads up action.

Hansen currently heads the Scandanavian poker players all time money list, but has only had limited success in WSOP events. Hansen’s only WSOP cash was in 2004 where he finished 150 th in the no limit hold’em main event collecting just $15,000

During the 2006 British Poker open commentator Gary "The Choirboy" Jones mentioned that Hansen had recently been experiencing financial problems. Despite not cashing at a major poker tournament in over twelve months at this point this is still surprising to hear considering the Great Dane had earned over $3 million in tournament winnings and earned a substantial sum from the pokerchamps sale where he was co-founder.

Hansen is one of the Full Tilt pro’s and is a regular amongst their high limit online poker games.
