Jerry Yang wins 2007 World Series of Poker

Jerry Yang is a fairytale story for the game of poker after qualyfing for the 2007 WSOP through an online satellite for just $225, and defeating all 7000 opponents to scoop the richest prize in poker - $8.2 million and WSOP gold bracelet.

As an amateur player, this was Yang’s first live poker tournament, but the psychologist from California showed nerves of steal to storm the final table and take the most prestigious title in poker.

Yang won a heads up battle with his pocket 8’s against A Q off suit, despite a queen landing on the flop. Yang managed to make a gutshot straight when a 6 emerged on the river to mark a fairytale poker story. Yang immediately donated 10% of his winnings to charity.

The World Series of Poker now turns it’s attention to London , England , where the World Series of Poker Europe is being hosted for the first time this September. For full details click here
